A Journey Around West Malling...

West Malling
was once a market town.
The market is no longer here, but West Malling is now a small lively town with
many excellent inns and a diverse selection of restaurants to suit all tastes.
West Malling is only a few minutes drive from the M20 and M25 and the main line
railway station has services to London (Victoria, London Bridge & Cannon
Street), Ashford (Eurostar), and Folkstone
(Le Shuttle).

The train journey time to London is about 55 minutes and outside of peak
times trains run 3 times an hour. The Eurostar terminal at Ashford is some
30 minutes by road or rail. Le Shuttle is about 40 minutes by road.
The ferry terminals at Dover are a little further on and take around 45-50
minutes. Remember however that it is advisable to arrive at least half an
hour before your departure time.
Gatwick Airport is about 35 minutes and
Heathrow an hour (assuming the M25 traffic is not being unkind!).
West Malling High Street is a picturesque and interesting place with many
varied shops and other establishments. An hour or so can easily slip by as
you stroll around the town perhaps taking a drink in one of the pleasant
hostelries on route. The Lobster Pot pictured left is in Swan Street and is
renowned for its wide selection of fine ales. There is also a small
restaurant separate from the bar with a reasonably priced menu. The Five
Pointed Star in the High Street is also very popular and has an excellent bar
menu available all day and evening. In total there are 6 inns on or just
off the high street.
The town is well known for its many and varied restaurants and

If you plan to eat in West Malling on a
Friday or Saturday evening it is usually necessary to pre-book.
We have several antique and gift shops together
with a craft centre. The
craft centre, pictured right, has several outlets including jewellery and
artwork. There is a
National Westminster Bank with a cash dispenser in Swan Street and St
Mary's Abbey, pictured left, is almost opposite.
If you enjoy the outdoor life you will not want
to miss a visit to The Countryway
in the high street. Tackle, clothing, guns and boots, etc will all be
found in plenty here.
All the places highlighted on this page are all within a minute
or so walk from Town Hill Close. Reggie, the family labrador is often seen
keeping a look out for visitors in the Close!
We look forward to being able to welcome you to
